Ice cream, glassware, trailers, toys and furniture… What do all these things have in common? These are just a few of the hundreds of items Americans love that are all made in Ohio! But nothing represents the history and the heart of the state of Ohio like Amish-made furniture and Amish Originals Furniture Co.
The Amish are descendants of the Anabaptists who arrived in Ohio in the early 1800’s. One of the first settlers, Jonas Stutzman, settled near present-day Walnut Creek in 1809, where he began one of the first sawmills. Settlers continued to arrive throughout the 19th century and built up the valuable industries we know and love today. Hardwood timber stands fed sawmills, which created a thriving industry of handcrafted furniture.
The Amish and Mennonite concentration on family, church, and community kept a focus on resourceful, small farms. The Amish still believe strongly in these things as well as valuing sustainability and respect for our environment. As their partners, Amish Originals Furniture Co. shares all these values. Properly managed forests are healthier, full of wildlife, and provide a never-ending source of beautiful, American hardwood.
We love being in business in a state that respects history, produces quality products, values connection and cultivates successful commerce. From Greater’s Ice Cream first made in Cincinnati, Ohio 150 years ago, to Step 2 Toys in Streetsboro and Perrysville, to Anchor Hocking Glass, manufactured in Lancaster, Ohio, the Buckeye State has proved to be a beautiful and prosperous state.
We are proud that Amish Originals Furniture has always been, and will continue to be, made in Ohio.
